DEPFLOY VS COOLIFY

Coolify Cloud, self-hosted Coolify or Depfloy?

Coolify offers a free self-hosted control plane and a paid Cloud service. Depfloy and Coolify Cloud both host the control plane while applications run on your servers. Compare the deployment model and required operations as well as who maintains the dashboard.

DEPFLOY CAPABILITIES

What you get on the servers you already own.

Hosted control plane

Depfloy hosts its control plane. Coolify Cloud also manages control-plane hosting, updates and backups. Maintaining the dashboard yourself is a consideration when choosing self-hosted Coolify, not a difference between the two hosted services.

Six data engines with their own server roles

PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Valkey, ClickHouse and Meilisearch. Database, cache and search are distinct roles, so provisioning one configures the service, the firewall and private-network access together.

Backups that include the restore

Six engines plus project files, on a schedule, to S3, Cloudflare R2, any S3-compatible endpoint, SFTP, FTP or the server's disk — with retention, exclusion rules, checksums and a restore flow in the same screen.

PostgreSQL replication and connection pooling

Streaming replication clusters with slot management and lag tracked in bytes and seconds, plus PgBouncer with its pool settings editable from the dashboard.

Permissions built for teams and clients

Five roles with per-resource scoping — a member can be restricted to specific servers or projects. An agency can give a client's developer exactly one project.

SIDE BY SIDE

Checked against their own pages.

Only the points we could cite. Every row links to where the Coolify side came from, with the date it was read — pricing and features move, and an undated claim about someone else's product ages badly.

DIMENSION DEPFLOY COOLIFY
Who runs the control plane Depfloy hosts the control plane; you supply the application servers. Self-hosted: you operate it. Cloud: Coolify manages its hosting, updates and backups. Checked Sep 5, 2026 →
Source availability Closed source. Open source, with full access to all features when self-hosted. Checked Sep 5, 2026 →
Control-plane subscription Flat plan pricing; provider charges are separate. Self-hosted is free. Cloud monthly billing starts at $5 for two connected servers, plus $3 per additional server. Each Cloud team requires an additional subscription. Checked Sep 5, 2026 →
Deployment model Manages nginx, PHP and application processes directly on supported servers. Docker-compatible applications and services, including Docker Swarm and pull-request deployments. Checked Sep 5, 2026 →

Coolify Cloud already covers hosted control-plane operation. A switch to Depfloy should depend on the application and database workflow you need. If Docker services or pull-request deployments are central to your workflow, evaluate those requirements before planning a migration.

FAQ

Common questions

Is open source the deciding factor? +
Coolify is open source and can be self-hosted. Depfloy is closed source and has no self-hosted control plane. If access to the source or operating the control plane yourself is a requirement, Coolify fits that requirement.
What does running the control plane actually cost me? +
For self-hosted Coolify, include the control-plane server and your work maintaining it. Coolify Cloud and Depfloy charge a subscription to operate the control plane. Application servers and their provider charges remain separate in each case.
Can I try Depfloy without moving everything? +
Use a separate clean server and one test project while Coolify continues managing your existing servers. Check the application and data migration steps before moving production traffic; do not provision an existing Coolify server with Depfloy.
